Every VelaFi transaction that involves a fiat payment leg requires a paymentMethodId field in the request body. This ID tells the API which banking rail, network, or settlement mechanism to use for the payin or payout. This page lists every supported payment method ID, its type (automatic or manual), its underlying banking partner (trench), and key operational details so you can select the right method for each use case.

Payment Method Types

VelaFi divides payment methods into two types:
  • Automatic — The platform initiates and reconciles the transaction without manual intervention. These methods are suitable for programmatic, real-time, or near-real-time payment flows.
  • Manual — A human review or manual bank instruction is involved on at least one side of the transaction. Use these methods for high-value, SWIFT-based, or non-standard corridors.

Payment Method ID Reference

Some payment method IDs differ between the sandbox and production environments. Where a sandbox ID exists, it is shown in parentheses next to the production ID (e.g., 63 (Sandbox: 18)). Always use the correct ID for the environment you are targeting.

Sandbox vs. Production IDs

The following methods use different IDs in the sandbox environment. If you use a production ID in the sandbox — or vice versa — the request will fail.
